Veronique Blouse and Kate Skirt
More good news with the re-launch this week of the much loved Melbourne based label Arnsdorf after a 5 year break.
We stocked the brand from it's first year in 2006 and it quickly gained a following for it's minimal, easy styling in mostly soft and neutral tones. I recall the shirting in cottons and silks, the simple jersey knit pieces and the jeans as being the must have items from those days.

Things have changed a lot in fashion since those pre GFC years. Designer Jade Sarita Arnott describes it all the best following her decision to pause the label in 2012, "...we felt a growing sense of uneasiness around the way the fashion industry was set up. The lack of transparency; the outsourcing of production and ethics; the alienation of women; the environmental trauma and never ending oversupply and waste."
After a move to New York where she consulted to Apiece Apart on their brand's denim component plus two babies, Jade and family returned to Melbourne with new eyes. A new vision for what she wanted to say with the brand.
It's a more philosophical approach and the outcome is a smarter, better model.

The collection is sold directly to the consumer through the website, by appointment at the Melbourne showroom or in the future at organised trunk shows around Australia and overseas meaning there is no wholesale to retail markup.
The foundation of the new model is a sustainable practice and design transparency so that you will know who designed and made your piece, with costing of each process.
The brand is not following seasons or carrying excess amounts of stock and will never go on sale.

Even better is that the collection is beautiful. It's the same arty Arnsdorf girl from 2006 but she is more worldly, more sophisticated. There are pieces for everyday, pieces for holiday, pieces for dinner and openings. It's a smart collection and not a pair of jeans in sight!
