Kid Congo Powers and The Pink Monkey Birds

Kid Congo Powers.
His real name is Brian Tristan but I only know him as Kid Congo.
You may know him from his work in The Gun Club, The Cramps or with
He has been heading the Pink Monkey Birds since around 2010 and I saw
them play live last tour at the Black Bear Lodge in Brisbane which was fantastic.
The band are back in the country right now touring their brand new album
La Arana es La Vida (The Spider of Life) and I’m looking forward to seeing
them play next week at the Northcote Social Club and with the Steve Miller Band supporting!
They are also playing in Melbourne at the NGV on Friday the 26th and The Caravan Club on Saturday the 27th. Look out for special guests including Kim Salmon and Mick Harvey!
The Brisbane show was to have been at The Beetle Bar but due to it's unfortunate closure, the show has been moved to The Triffid.
They are fantastic musicians and great live.

I heard an interview with him on Triple R recently and he is currently writing a book about his rock and roll life which sounds interesting. I never got to see The Gun Club play but have loved them from way back. Apparently they were pretty wild times for all involved!
