Vanissa Antonious studied Art History at the University of Sydney
before going on to work at Harper’s Bazaar Australia and then at
Harper’s Bazaar UK as Market Editor along with 4 years of freelance styling.
Alan Buanne also studied at UTS before learning the art of
shoemaking in Florence and then going on to work with Nicholas
Kirkwood in London.
The couple noticed a gap in the market for an accessible, boutique
shoe collection and realised their brand Neous, the name being a
combination of the last letters of their surnames.
I also like the reference to “new us”.
The foundation of the brand is quality and all of the collection
is hand made in Italy with local materials.
The aesthetic is minimal but modern.
The first two collections have been minimal but certainly not lacking!
All heel heights are covered including my choice, the mid heel.
I love the large gold eyelet detail and the cone heels.
The two-tone colour combinations are sophisticated.
The classic leathers are highlighted with metallics, macrame and
even transparent pvc.
My absolute favourite detail is the amazing two-tone ball heel featured
throughout the AW17 collection.
Neous is not yet available in Australia but selected styles from their Spring
Summer 17 are currently available online through Moda Operandi, Need Supply
and Browns London.
