Actually iconic Australian band The Triffids have been doing a series of live shows to celebrate 30 years since the release of their brilliant 1986 album Born Sandy Devotional which features devastating tracks like Wide Open Road, The Seabirds, Estuary Bed, Tender Is The Night and more...
Formed in Perth in 1978, the original members Alsy McDonald, Jill Bert, Graham Lee, Marty Casey and Rob McComb are joined by Rob Snarski and JP Shilo along with the spirit of enigmatic front man David McComb who sadly passed away in 1999.
When I was searching for a video to share, I found this interesting interview with Donny Sutherland on the long running music show SOUNDS which Donny hosted from 1975 to 1987.
This video starts with the clip for Spanish Blue (not great sound unfortunately) but then goes into an interview with David McComb and Marty Casey with interjections by Chris Bailey from The Saints and Joe Camilleri from Jo Jo Zep and The Falcons.
Here is Red Pony for good measure...
The Triffids are playing at the Meredith Music Festival this year and have also announced another show at The Corner Hotel in Richmond.
They are also doing a series of shows in the northern hemisphere so keep a look out for updates in your area on their Facebook page here or on their official website here.
